Gunmen have abducted a member of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Barr Bashir Muhammad Bape from his house in Jalingo.
Bape, who represents Nguroje constituency in the Assembly, was picked yesterday from his residence around Nana Aisha area of Jalingo, the State capital.
It was gathered that the unknown gunmen went to the Taraba lawmaker’s residence and took him specifically while shooting in the air sporadically.

According to a resident, Yakubu Muhammad, “We couldn’t sleep last night, heavy gunshots started about 1:10am to 1:45; they left with him unchallenged”.
It was the second time a member of the state House of Assembly would be kidnapped in recent years. In 2017, a Taraba lawmaker, Hosea Ibi, representing Takum 1 constituency, was kidnapped on December 30, 2017 and later found dead.
Spokesman of the Police, David Misal, also confirmed the kidnap of the Taraba lawmaker and said efforts are on-going to secure his release.
